Blue Toby makes a home in North Carolina
The last few months have been so busy here at Blue Toby, with lots of progress to show! First a bit of background to set the stage. We moved to beautiful North Carolina in January of 2022 and live just outside Chapel Hill - in a town called Pittsboro. Our home is on 20 acres with tall trees, rolling hills and a running creek. It is like living in a park! Everyone here is so friendly, and very supportive of local busineses. Many of our neighbors even volunteered their dogs to participate in a Blue Toby photo shoot.
The new barn
After moving to North Carolina, we started construction on a new barn to house my Nigerian goats, Juliana pigs, and poultry. I raise rare breeds of poultry, and have a dedicated "brooder room". The chicks stay in a brooder, or warm incubator, until they have grown large enought to go outside. We completed the shell of the barn toward the end of 2022.
We started framing the interior walls, and I included a large second floor for storage. I did most of the framing myself, if you can believe it, with help from my family. It took months, but I am happy to say that we completed the framing and had the utilities installed. We've almost finished putting up the walls, too.
Blue Toby is headquartered in North Carolina
We are using some of the space to store our raw materials. The Blue Toby custom fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles (pictured on the left with puppy Marcus helping me inspect the material). State-of-the-art airstring foam alternative makes up the core of the Pet Bed (on the right).
